TMZ was the firs to report that a spokesperson for the U.S. Marine Corps Band – which provides the music for the inauguration – claimed Beyonce used a pre-recorded studio version of her song.
Although it's standard procedure with a performance like this for musicians to record a backing track that they can sing and play along to, the spokeswoman for the Marine Corps Band said the band was told to fake it for Beyonce's performance because Bey had made the decision to rely entirely on that track.
A spokesman for the Marine Corp clarified the spokeswoman's comments later, admitting that, yes, a prerecorded track of the band was used because there hadn't been time to properly rehearse with Beyonce, but, quote, "no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether [Beyonce's singing] was live or pre-recorded."
In other words, he's not saying Beyoncé didn't lip synch, and he's not saying she did, he's saying neither he nor the woman who made the initial claim knows either.

BABY POOP - IT'S A BOY FOR SHAKIRA!: SHAKIRA and her Spanish soccer stud boyfriend Gerard Pique are now the proud parents of a 6lb. 6 ounce baby boy -- one they named Milan Pique Mebarak, which is Shakira’s last name.
“Milan means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic," Shakira explained in a post on her website. "In Ancient Roman, [it means] eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”
While we're on the subject of celebrity babies ... ADELE has yet to reveal the name of her 3-month-old son, telling the media backstage at the Golden Globes she's enjoying having the baby to herself for now. But yesterday, she was spotted coming out of a high-end West Hollywood baby boutique wearing a necklace that says "Angelo" on it.
