Jenner was in his SUV behind a Lexus, which was behind a Prius. The Prius came to a stop on the highway, and was rear-ended by the Lexus, which was then rear-ended by Jenner.
The Lexus was pushed into the opposite lane, where it was struck by a black Hummer. A 70-year-old woman who was driving the Lexus was killed. Jenner was given a field sobriety test, which he passed. He was also taken to a nearby hospital and given a blood test. As far as we know, he wasn't under the influence, and actually volunteered for the blood test.
There were reports that he may have been texting at the time of the accident, but there are pictures that show it's more likely he was smoking. Police planned to check his phone records just to be sure, though.
All the evidence seems to show that he did see what was happening in front of him, and slammed on his brakes before impact. Unfortunately, he also veered to the right, which may have been what pushed the car in front of him into the other lane.

SPLITSVILLE - POPULATION ROSIE O'DONNELL: ROSIE O'DONNELL has split with her wife and quit "The View". Rosie revealed that she and Michelle separated back in November, and that the stress of dealing with that -- along with her TV gig -- was becoming too much.
"[My health] got a little bit worse right before the holidays [and my doctor] was kind of concerned. I can't really fix [my personal life] right away, but I can fix [my job situation]. So I spoke to them at ABC, and they understood. They've been unbelievably supportive and loving."
Rosie will end her second run on "The View" this week.
As for she and Michelle, they're still trying to make it work. "We're separated," Rosie says. "We're not living together, and, like most married couples I know, we're trying to figure it out. And I love her very much and she loves me."
